Jan Sarnowski is the founder of Oriorwaith J. Sarnowski, a family-run watch brand established in 2024. With a background in mathematics and teaching, he combines precision with a lifelong passion for horology, evolving from restoring vintage watches to creating his own designs. His work is driven by a focus on craftsmanship, detail, and personal expression.
Today, with Sarnow, Jan creates highly personal, commission-grade timepieces. These creations serve as a canvas for the preservation of rare, vanishing disciplines, from meticulous hand-finishing to the rare art of engine-turned guilloché. Under his guidance, Sarnow is less a brand than a return to the unhurried cadence of traditional, master-craft watchmaking.
Sarnow is the result of a singular ambition: to move beyond the constraints of production and return to the roots of English horology.
While my previous work allowed me to share my vision with thousands, Sarnow is dedicated to the few. It is a platform for the obsessive, where hand-guilloché, manual engraving, and bespoke finishing take precedence over volume.
By working alongside masters of rare, vanishing disciplines, Sarnow serves as both a laboratory and a legacy. The first model marks our beginning, showcasing a raw, uncoated guilloché dial, a hand-engraved, New Old Stock movement and a hand finished case. This is watchmaking in its most intimate, unfiltered form.

From a single sheet of metal to a symphony of reflected light, guilloché is the soul of the Sarnow dial. It is a rhythmic dance between man and machine
Using a manual, century-old rose engine, Jan hand-carves intricate geometric patterns into each dial with microscopic precision. This is not mere engraving; it is the art of capturing light, creating a shimmering, three-dimensional depth that lives and breathes on your wrist.
Because the guilloché features no coating or etching, each line has to be cut to perfection multiple times, in order to preserve a perfectly polished finish of every carved line.

At the heart of our first timepiece lies a New Old Stock, fully serviced, vintage Unitas 6498 (pre-ETA) movement from the 1960s - engraved by a master in the craft.
To ensure your watch is a true extension of your legacy, we offer the distinction of having your initials hand engraved into the movement bridge. This bespoke detail ensures that while the gears measure the time, the engraving captures your personal history forever.
